OUTCOME-BASED EDUCATION (OBE) AT THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING


 

 



 

   
 

Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is an educational philosophy where the teaching and learning approach that is based upon a predetermined set of expected outcomes. The term outcomes in this matter would be a set of values or attributes on what a student should acquire upon completion of a certain level of learning. For example, programme outcomes (PO) would indicate the attribute that a student should have upon graduation. The general approach of the OBE educational framework adopted by College of Engineering consists of the following components:

 

 

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)

     
 

Programmes Educational Objectives are defined as qualities or specific goals describing expected achievements of graduates in their career and professional life after graduation. PEO is measured after 3 to 5 years into employment. At College of Engineering, PEOs are specific to each programme.

PROGRAMME OUTCOME (PO) FOR THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

     
 

Programme Outcomes are a series of qualities or attributes that a graduate are expected to know or be able to perform or attain by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge (cognitive), skills (psychomotor), and behaviour (affective) that the student acquire through the programme. At College of Engineering, POs are specific to each programme.

COURSE OUTCOME

     
 

The Course Outcomes (CO) are elements of Technical or Soft skills that each student must acquire prior to completion of a specific course (i.e. a subject) taught. CO is designed to support and be measureable against PO. CO is very specific to each individual course.
