Yayasan Canselor UNITEN Empowers the Public to Develop Education Sector
Cyberjaya - Yayasan Canselor Universiti Tenaga Nasional (YCU) an entity duly incorporated under the Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952 (Act 258) was recently launched by T.Y.T. Tun Dato Seri Utama Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas, Penang Head of State and Chancellor for UNITEN. YCU is a non-profit entity focused on empowering and engaging people around Malaysia to develop the educational sector.
Among other things, the main purpose of the establishment of the YCU as stated in the Deed of Trust is to receive and administer funds for the purpose of promoting education of Malaysians or for any charitable purposes including establishing, maintaining and administering scholarship to deserving Malaysians intending to pursue their pre-university, undergraduate or postgraduate studies at UNITEN or other universities.
T.Y.T. Tun Dato Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman in his speech expressed, YCU is very grateful to the wide range of donors who have contributed to the foundation. They have found it an appropriate way to access young leadership achievements via funding the education of the younger generation, which in turn, also promotes their organizations corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. Amongst them are Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malakoff Corporation Berhad, Permodalan Nasional Berhad, IOI Properties, Ingress Corporation Berhad and Jurutera Perunding. In addition to the donors list, UNITEN staff showed their generosity and donated an amount of RM50, 000 to this noble cause.
