Welcome

On behalf of my UNITEN colleagues, welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering website. Our website is designed to provide a broad overview of the educational and research opportunities within our Department.

It is an exciting time indeed for the civil engineering profession. Public demand is high for a safe, efficient and effective infrastructure while maintaining a clean environment. UNITEN's civil engineering graduates are key players in the profession, with over 400 currently serving as designers, consultants, contractors, lecturers, researchers, project managers and in other capacities in a variety of private companies as well as the public sector, working in Malaysia and overseas.

The Department of Civil Engineering is dedicated to develop UNITEN’s strong linkages with the industry especially through its parent company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). The Department offers a full-time undergraduate programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honors). Postgraduate programmes offered include Master of Civil Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy by research in the areas of geotechnical engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, structural engineering, environmental engineering, materials engineering, transportation engineering, GIS and construction engineering management.

The Department strives to be the leading civil engineering department in the country and to provide leadership in the field of civil engineering by focusing on technological innovations built upon the advances in basic knowledge. We work in partnership with corporations, government departments and other organisations to ensure that our work has the breadth and expertise necessary to tackle problems with economic, scientific and engineering dimensions.

In summary, UNITEN's Department of Civil Engineering is in an active phase of growth and development. The upcoming year will be an exciting one of new beginnings with discussions of potential future paths for continued excellence. Please check out our website and let us know if you would like more information about the Department of Civil Engineering at UNITEN.
