(CSTEN)

 

OVERVIEW

The Centre for Sustainable Technology and Environment (CSTEN) was established as one of the Centres of Excellence and a one-stop-centre for research and development in Sustainable Technology and Environment in the College of Engineering, Universiti Tenaga Nasional. The main objective of the CSTEN is to promote research and development of Green Technology for sustainable development and environment and synergise efforts amongst researchers in UNITEN with TNB Generation, Transmission and Distribution (GTD) and relevant government bodies such as the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), the Department of Environment and the Public Works Department and industries involved in studying, monitoring and managing green technology and environment.

Definition

  • Logo itself represents the Centre as a hub for any green technology and environmental concern and related activities
  • Colour variation from blue to green signifies the earth and water

FOCUS AREA

CSTEN focus into three main different sectors i.e energy sector, building sector and water sector by producing products, equipment or systems which minimizes the degradation of the environment via nine research components, i.e. Green Building (e.g. GBI), Green Infrastructure (e.g. Green roof), Green StormWater (e.g. MSMA Facilities wetland, bioretention), Green Energy (e.g. hydropower, dam safety), Green Materials, Green Transport, Green Development/Construction , Green Community and Green ICT.
