Jinan China, 24 May 2026 - Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has made Malaysia proud on the international stage, with its Mobile Robotics Club (MRC), College of Engineering, claiming third place at the 2026 Spring City Cup International Humanoid Robot Football Tournament, held from 21 to 24 May 2026 at Jinan, China.

Organised by the Humanoid Robot Football League (HRFL), the tournament brought together teams from several nations including Malaysia, China, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Vietnam, and South Africa, all competing in one of the most cutting-edge arenas in robotics sport.

The UNITEN team fielded the Booster K1, a humanoid robot by Booster Robotics, programming and operating it across the four-day competition that included qualification rounds, group-stage matches, and knockout fixtures culminating in the Finals and Awards Ceremony on 24 May.

The team was composed of six undergraduate students drawn from UNITEN's College of Engineering and College of Computing and Informatics: Muhammad Yazid Ihsan (COE BME), Tan Jun Siang (COE BEEE), Aida Syafiqah (CCI), Isa Aslam (COE BEEE), Faris Faizal (COE BEPE), and Asyraf Azmi (COE BEEE).

The podium finish was made possible through the generous support of the College of Engineering (COE), Yayasan Canselor UNITEN (YCU), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), T-Robot Sdn Bhd, and Lattel Robotics. The achievement marks a significant milestone for UNITEN's robotics programme and signals UNITEN's growing presence in the global humanoid robotics community.
