16 DECEMBER 2022 - The UNITEN Chancellor's Foundation (YCU) successfully generated endowment funds for 2022 alone reaching its highest level since the establishment of the YCU of RM39 million as a result of corporate and individual contributions through a network of collaboration and collaboration with industry.

On 14 December, the YCU 2022 Charity Dinner was held at SPICE Convention Centre, Penang and attended by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, His Excellency Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak.

The event saw the launch of the TYT Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Scholarship Fund which raised an initial contribution of RM2 million from corporate contributors and individuals.

TYT Tun Dato' Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi, who is also the Chancellor of UNITEN, also handed over contributions from YCU with an allocation of RM100,000.00 to students from seven IPTs namely Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the International College of Technology (KITAB) Penang.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNITEN, Professor Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman in his speech said, the contribution was distributed by giving priority to underprivileged students and in the B40 category. The management and expenditure activities through this scholarship fund are carried out by the YCU in accordance with the objectives of the Trust Deed.

"The main trust is to help the underprivileged students who need to be given due attention as each individual deserves the best education.

UNITEN and YCU are also directly involved in the effort on the financial sustainability of PHEIs through the appointment of a member of the Technical Working Group (TWG2) under the National Task Force on Facilitation of IPTS," he said.

Director of UNITEN Islamic Centre, Associate Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Mat Isa handed over the UNITEN Professional Huffaz Dermasiswa zakat amounting to RM2.17 million which is a commitment from the UNITEN Zakat Trust Fund (TAZU) to TYT Tun, as Chancellor of UNITEN.

The ceremony was also graced with a presentation from the Royal Ranger Regiment Combo under the leadership of Sergeant Remmy.

As an energy-based university, UNITEN will continue to pursue and pioneer the main milestones and focus of Internationalizing and Industrializing (Internationalizing) to achieve excellence at the national level and competitive with the world's leading universities.
