English Short Course (ESC) is a language proficiency course designed for International Foundation students who have not met the language requirement such as minimum score for IELTS or TOEFL. The candidates are required to sit for the Test of English Proficiency (TEP) to determine the ESC level or exemption from ESC. ESC is offered two times in a year, during the long semesters, in May and October.

In class, students are given the necessary language skills – reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar input to enable them to reach an acceptable, functional level required for academic success at UNITEN. Speaking skills are incorporated in every component.

The course is conducted every Friday for 12 weeks. The course runs from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm. Classes are small with a maximum capacity of 25 students per class. The language classes are taught by experienced language lecturers.
