PUTRAJAYA, 8 June 2023 – Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) showcases fusion of knowledge, innovation, science and art at the Tan Sri Leo Moggie Chair of Energy Informatics and Institute of Informatics And Computing In Energy (IICE) Engagement Day.

With the theme, "Energy Informatics: Symbiosis of Art, Science & Sustainability.", it featured three engaging and enlightening activities that captivated attendees: the Tan Sri Leo Moggie Lecture Series, the Research & Innovation Exhibition, and the Art, Science & Photography Exhibition.

The highlight of the event was the Tan Sri Leo Moggie Lecture Series 2023, held at UNITEN's Auditorium Theatre. The lecture, titled "Space: The Ultimate Energy Source of the Future," was delivered by Emerita Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Mazlan Othman. Prof. Mazlan has shed light on the future of energy by delving into the potential of dark matter and dark energy, two phenomena that make up a staggering 95% of the universe. Her insightful exploration offered a fresh perspective on the significance of energy in the realm of space.

The Research Exhibition, located at the Main Lobby, has featured an impressive
display of the latest research projects by IICE researchers, postdoctoral scholars, and participating Government Linked Universities: Multimedia University (MMU) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL). The showcased research spanned various domains and technology, including Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Bioenergy, and Chemistry, emphasizing the interdisciplinary and exciting nature of energy informatics.

The Art, Science, and Photography Exhibition held at UNITEN's Sunken Garden has added another captivating element to the event. Titled "The Ways of the Heart vol. 2," the exhibition showcased 20 paintings by renowned Polish researchers, Dr. Dominika Gołębiewska from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and Dr. Beata Kołakowska from the University of Warmia and Masuria in Olsztyn. Additionally, the Engagement Day included exceptional artwork by the Di8IT collective, a group of researcher-cumartists consisting of members from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). To further enhance the artistic experience, ten striking photographs by the winners of the Digital Photography Class 2023 were also exhibited.

Prof. Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan, the Vice Chancellor of UNITEN, has expressed his
enthusiasm for the Engagement Day event, describing it as the true embodiment of UNITEN's identity - creative, innovative, and dynamic. He emphasized that IICE serves as the leading research institute in energy informatics, fostering collaborations among academia, the energy industry, and businesses to address current and future challenges in the field. Furthermore, the establishment of the Tan Sri Leo Moggie Distinguished Chair in Energy Informatics in 2020, generously endowed by TNB, has positioned UNITEN at the forefront of energy informatics research.

The Engagement Day at UNITEN has provided a platform for the exchange of ideas, strengthened collaboration with industry players, showcased groundbreaking research, and celebrated artistic expression. UNITEN remains committed to pushing boundaries, embracing interdisciplinary collaborations, and shaping the future of energy informatics.

The event was also attended by former Chairman of the Board for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Tan Sri Leo Moggie, Holder of Tan Sri Leo Moggie Distinguished Chair in Energy Informatics, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Halimah, Chairman of TNB, Dato’ Abdul Razak Abdul Majid, and Vice Chancellor of UNITEN, Prof. Ir.
