20 February 2026

20 February 2026 - A Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) student excelled at the recent Volunteer Leadership Development Programme (VLDP), marking a significant milestone for the university at the event held at Vivatel Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Wan Danish Rifdi Wan Mohd Nasir, a Bachelor of Economics (Energy) (Honours) student, was named one of the Top 5 finalists in the 'Impact Makers' category during the event held from 13 to 15 February 2026. Out of 30 competitive participants nationwide, he successfully secured a RM2,500 grant to implement his community project, Kelantan Ruralpreneur.

Organised by Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS), the VLDP served as an advancement platform for YSS alumni who had completed volunteer missions in Vietnam, Sabah, and Sarawak in 2025. The programme was designed to empower these volunteers to lead their own grassroots initiatives.

Representing UNITEN alongside Wan Danish were two other standout participants who demonstrated strong leadership throughout the sessions. They were Nurul Adeeba Abdul Rashid, a Bachelor of Economics (Energy) (Honours) student, and Nur Iffah Afeeqah Fadzly, a 2025 graduate of the Bachelor of International Business programme. Reflecting on the achievement, Wan Danish noted that the project was envisioned to strengthen the synergy between the university and society.

“I believe this community project will serve as a bridge between the university and the community, creating a meaningful social impact through student-driven initiatives,” he said.

The participation of these individuals highlights UNITEN’s ongoing commitment to producing holistic graduates who are not only academically proficient but also socially conscious and leadership-oriented.
