Overview
This programme is designed to develop core IT knowledge, digital skills, and logical thinking abilities. It prepares students for degree-level studies in information technology, enabling them to adapt to the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
About Programme
The department of Foundation and Diploma Studies (CCI-FDS) offers Foundation in Computer Science (FCS), Foundation in Information Technology (FIT), and Diploma in Computer Science (DCS) programmes. The department is equipped with sufficient computer laboratories. All the laboratories are air-conditioned and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
The Foundation in Information Technology will equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them to successfully pursue their respective degree programmes. Among the subjects to be undertaken by foundation students are Introduction to Computing, Introduction to Problem Solving and Basic Computer, Introduction to Web Development, Personal Productivity with Information Technology, Fundamentals of Data & Information, and other relevant subjects. Students will also be exposed to various out-of-class activities.
Students who have successfully completed their Foundation in Information Technology programme will be able to enter into the Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Systems) (Hons), Bachelor of Information Technology (Visual Media) (Hons), and Bachelor of Information Technology (Graphics & Multimedia) (Hons).
50 credit hours of subjects are being taught in three semesters. This Foundation in Information Technology programme can be completed in 1 year.
