Intensive English Programme (IEP)

SHORT COURSE

Overview

What is IEP?

The Intensive English Programme (IEP) at UNITEN is a comprehensive preparatory course specifically designed for international students who have not yet met the university’s English language proficiency requirements. More than just a language course, IEP empowers students to develop essential academic and communicative English skills while promoting global citizenship, mutual respect, and cross-cultural understanding.

Why IEP?

The IEP aims to enhance students’ proficiency across all key language areas—Grammar, Vocabulary, Listening, Speaking, Writing, and Reading. It equips students with the necessary linguistic competence and academic readiness to succeed in university-level coursework. Upon completion of the programme, students will be well-prepared to sit for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

At UNITEN, mastering the English language is not only about achieving academic goals but also about embracing cultural diversity, linguistic sensitivity, and shared values. The IEP reflects our commitment to cultivating global-minded learners who are equipped for success in both academic and real-world contexts.

Programme Highlights:

  1. Five Terms Annually: The programme is offered five times a year, providing flexible entry points and scheduling to accommodate diverse student needs.
  2. Comprehensive Curriculum: Courses are structured to build foundational and academic English skills through six integrated components.
  3. Small Class Sizes: Each class accommodates a maximum of 25 students, allowing for personalized instruction, active participation, and individual support.
  4. MUET Preparation: Students receive focused guidance and strategic practice to ensure success in MUET and beyond.
