UNITEN R&D Sdn. Bhd. (URND) is the technology transfer and project management office of Universiti Tenaga Nasional, a government-linked university. URND is a wholly owned subsidiary of Universiti Tenaga Nasional and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the largest utilities company in Malaysia.

Established on 18 November 2008, URND is a recognised Research and Development status company by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) under Section 34B, of the Income Tax Act, 1967 and a registered Consulting Company under the Malaysian Ministry of Finance (MOF).

URND has been entrusted with the task to actively seek research and consultancy assignments from the industrial communities such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), TNB Research, multinational companies and other potential international conglomerates.

URND aims to drive UNITEN’s capability in assisting Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), industries, government agencies and international partners in high impact research areas in line with the Government’s IR 4.0 efforts such as power engineering, robotics, sustainable energy and IOT (AI, big data) sectors in order to achieve their goals and compete in economic globalisation.
