Research Scope

The focus of smart power generation group will mostly on using of advanced technologies and techniques to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of electricity generation systems.

This focus could include as well the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, as well as the integration of advanced control systems and information technology to optimize power generation and distribution.

The group research in this area may involve a wide range of topics, including power plant performance, tripping and shutdowns, advance monitoring and control, and environmental impacts of power generation.

Happenings in Group

Our research group is focused on several key activities related to the power industry. These include:

 

·       Power Plant Performance Monitoring and Control: We investigate various methods and technologies to monitor and control power plant performance, with the aim of improving efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing reliability.

·        

·       Maintenance Scheduling Optimization: We develop and test different optimization techniques to minimize maintenance costs while maintaining equipment reliability and availability.

·       Renewable Power Generation Sources - Design/Optimization and Implementation: We conduct research on renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, to optimize their design and implementation for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

·       Smart Management of Renewable Sources: We develop and test smart grid technologies and energy storage systems to improve the management and integration of renewable energy sources into existing power grids.

·       Smart Solutions for Environmental Impacts of Power Generation Sources: We explore and propose smart solutions to mitigate the environmental impacts of power generation, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability.

·       AI Applications for Power Industry Problems: We investigate the application of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to address power industry problems, including predictive maintenance, real-time optimization, and decision-making support.

 

Through our research activities, we aim to contribute to the development of more efficient, sustainable, and reliable power generation and distribution systems.
