Doctor of Philosophy in Information and Communication Technology
This programme is a research-intensive doctoral degree designed to advance knowledge and innovation in information and communication technology. It emphasises independent, original research under expert supervision, developing advanced analytical, technical, and research skills in areas such as computing systems, networks, data, and emerging digital technologies. Graduates are prepared for academic careers, research leadership roles, and high-level professional positions in the ICT and digital technology sectors.

 

About Programme

The Doctor of Philosophy in Information and Communication Technology program is aimed at providing prospective candidates with the ability to develop new/novel knowledge and expand existing knowledge and application of computing solutions in the organization, society, and worldwide.

It exposes the practitioners/researchers to advanced study and training in research, culminating in the submission of a thesis. This program intends to develop research capability, creativity, and ability to collate the results of the research work and to present them in a clear manner, as well as demonstrate knowledge of the literature of the subject.

 

Program Structure:
The program can be completed within 3-7 years for full-time and part-time candidates. Candidates who enroll in this program are required to register for the following courses:

  1. MPRP672 Research Project
  2. UNIM523 Research Methodology in Information Technology

What You Will Learn

Entry Requirements

1 A Master’s Degree from UNITEN or any Institutions of higher learning recognised by UNITEN; or 
2 Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree & experience in the relevant field recognised by UNITEN; or 
3 Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergone appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the COGS Committee
4 For International Students: IELTS 5.0/ TOEFL 3.0/ MUET 3.5/ Linguaskill 154 
* *Bachelor's in the domain with 1st class with honours or CGPA 3.67 & above. For this qualification, candidates must register for the Master Programme (By Research) & apply for conversion to PhD within 1 year of registration, subject to assessments & approval by the Senate.
