This programme is a research-focused degree designed for candidates seeking advanced expertise in finance and financial studies. It emphasises independent research and critical analysis in areas such as financial markets, investment, risk management, and corporate finance, preparing graduates for careers in research, academia, policy analysis, and advanced professional roles in the finance industry.

About Programme

Master of Science in Finance (By Research) programme is particularly relevant for those interested in pursuing a career in investment banking, financial research and financial trading.

The programme is specifically designed for those who are interested to become researchers, academics and consultants in a variety of business and management disciplines. In exceptional circumstances graduates from other disciplines can be considered.

Program Structure:
The program can be completed within 2-3 years for full-time candidates and 3-4 years for part-time candidates.  Candidates who enroll in this program are required to register for the following courses:

  1. FRPM634 Research Project
  2. MGTM512 Research Methodology Seminar

Entry Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 out of 4.00 or its equivalent qualification as accepted by UNITEN Senate; OR

  2. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a CGPA below 2.75 out of 4.00 but above 2.50 out of 4.00 or its equivalent qualification can be accepted, subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field.

  3. For International students : students are required to fulfill one of the English proficiency score stated below to enroll at UNITEN. Postgraduate students who do not fulfill this English requirement are required to sit for Intensive English Programme (IEP) and pass the requirement below before starting their postgraduate requirement.
        1. Malaysia University English Test (MUET) – achieved Band 4.5 and above
        2. IELTS - achieved 6.5 and above
        3. TOEFL (Internet-based Test) – achieved 9.5 and above
