This programme is a research-based degree that enables candidates to conduct in-depth investigations in specialised areas of mechanical engineering. It focuses on the development of advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills through independent research under academic supervision, preparing graduates for careers in research and development, advanced engineering practice, or further academic pursuits.

About Programme

The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is a full research programme offering candidates a unique opportunity to delve into their specialized interests within the Mechanical Engineering discipline for a duration of 2-4 years. During this time, candidates have the chance to make significant academic contributions to the understanding of their chosen research area.

Prospective candidates are future researchers / academicians in universities and / or research institutions, R&D Engineers, Engineering Specialists and Technopreneurs.

Program Structure:
The program can be completed within 2-3 years for full-time candidates and 3-4 years for part-time candidates.  Candidates who enroll in this program are required to register for the following courses:

  • MPRM572 Thesis
  • UNIM613 Research Methodology

Entry Requirements

1 A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by UNITEN; or
2 A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a CGPA between 2.50 & 2.75, subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
3 CGPA between 2.00 and 2.50, accepted subject to 5 years relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment; or
4 Candidates without qualification in related field must undergo prerequisite courses and meet the minimum CGPA based on Point (1) and Point (2); or
5 Relevant APEL-A certification from MQA.
6 For International Students: IELTS 5.0/ TOEFL 3.0/ MUET 3.5/ Linguaskill 154
