Facilities & Laboratories

IEPRe’s research facilities are centred on analytical, modelling and simulation capabilities rather than conventional experimental laboratories. These capabilities support policy, economic, regulatory and strategic energy studies, including financial modelling, market analysis, energy transition planning, climate resilience research and long-term energy system assessment.

Energy Modeling & Simulation Lab (EMSL)

The Energy Modeling & Simulation Lab is IEPRe’s flagship research facility and serves as a platform for integrated energy, economy and environment modelling. Its capabilities include Computable General Equilibrium modelling, EnergyPLAN, time-series economic analysis, input-output modelling, MATLAB-based power system analysis, and International Atomic Energy Agency tools and frameworks such as INPRO and NEST.

The EMSL supports evidence-based decision-making in renewable energy, battery energy storage, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, grid reliability, supply-chain impacts and employment analysis. It also supports professional courses, advanced modelling bootcamps, executive and policy training, and postgraduate researcher development for government, regulators, utilities, industry, academia and regional stakeholders.
